![]() ![]() Achievements not directly story related can be earned while progress through the main story or during the covered DLC campaign. The DLC introduces three new story lines, optional side missions, additional vehicles, and new weapons each with their own set of related achievements to unlock. Glitched achievements aside, the achievement list is quite straightforward and should be relatively easy to complete.Īt the time of writing the walkthrough, all the DLC was free so there should be no reason to miss these achievements as well. Difficulty is also not an issue, so feel free to play on the easiest difficulty to help you breeze through combat. As long as you concentrate on the junction boxes that are needed, this shouldn’t be too cumbersome to accomplish. The only caveat to this is that in order to flip bosses, you will need to wiretap specific junction boxes for which you will need to collect a portion of the available fuses that can be found throughout the city. Some good news is that there aren't really any collectible based achievements, despite having several items of interest. I strongly recommend flipping all possible targets on the first run then focusing on a lethal second run. ![]() There is little to no room for error on this, so be consistent or else a third playthrough may be needed. ![]() You must decide on the first run whether to flip or kill all informants and racket bosses, then do the opposite on the second run to complete those requirements. You will also be getting each story related achievement as you slowly dismantle the mob operation. Your first playthrough should be your more time consuming run, paving the way for a focused and efficient second playthrough to reduce your overall time played.ĭuring your first playthrough, you will want to rack up specific kills/takedowns, perform various feats in vehicles, and acquire/spend enough money to complete the various non-story related achievements. As you progress through the story, you will be taking over control of Rackets and Districts one-by-one, then reassigning operational control of these to your own underbosses. A second playthrough will not need to complete the final story mission, but is needed due to competing story actions that must be taken during your takeover of the city. Potential issues aside, this should only require two playthroughs. Therefore, your best chance to reach 100% in the base game may be to install the game from a disc while offline, essentially avoiding the suspected updates a more detailed method is provided in the General Hints and Tips page or you can visit any number of threads linked to this game or specific achievements for the guidance. From what I can tell from going through the numerous threads about glitched achievements, the issue has arisen from patches and updates released in March 2017. Erasing your hard drive's saved game data, then reinstalling and replaying the game may help, but that may not be a complete fix. It has also been implied that some progress appears to be erased when you exit the game or turn off the Xbox, but this is not definitive. ![]() Long story short, the game can crash and erase or corrupt your progress towards cumulative achievements. I experienced this first hand, having some of the most time consuming achievements not unlock despite meeting the requirements more than once more on this in the General Hints and Tips page. The achievement list, while fairly straightforward, is notoriously glitchy. With strong racist and bigoted language throughout much of the dialogue, this may not be suitable for all ages. Comparing this to a game like GTA, which takes on a more satirical perspective, this one is grim, but honest to the American culture of the time period. With this in mind, this game takes a more serious approach to the culture of this time period, which may be considered offensive and repulsive. Mafia III takes place in New Bordeaux, a re-imagining of New Orleans in the late 1960’s, a city that has only recently moved beyond segregation, but has yet to fully accept minority communities intermingling in white society. ![]()
